INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of information systems. Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information. IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and retrieve information, securely.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the McCone County Information Technology Committee (IT Committee) is to work with each department to continually evaluate the County’s existing technology infrastructure and usage in order to make recommendations for future planning direction and to develop and establish a technology plan
GOALS: The goals of this committee are to help the County better manage its technology by providing:
• An inventory of McCone County’s current technology assets
• Documentation of the County’s technology needs
• A prioritized plan establishing a budget and a Capital Projects Technology fund for addressing these needs
• Set up a program for computers in the same office and between offices in order to provide access between departments and to share information
• Technical support
• Recommend software programs
• Protocol or procedure for purchasing technology equipment
• Technology Policy
• Training
• Design and maintain a County web-page
